Roland main event 3, what a day…

by CB on Sep.28, 2009, under Random Thoughts

I’ve not long been back from Birmingham where I had the pleasure of playing at Roland Main Event 3

Firstly I have to say a massive “well done” to Roland UK for putting on this ‘free’ event. It has taken so much hard work behind the scenes to get it through to yesterday. As some of you are aware, getting bums off seats in this climate is tough so thank you all for coming over and showing your appreciation. Secondly I must thank my great friend Whitey for doing such an amazing job. He only had the gear for 6 weeks and to turn out a performance like that was just awesome. I’ve gave him a few pointers along the way but 99% was his. I loved the way he embraced the technology and made it work for him. I true master of his art. I was blown away with what he did and felt so proud watching a hero of mine deliver a blistering set. Johnny Rabb, is just johnny…. a really humble guy who has the most amazing technique and drive behind his instrument. He is deeply humbled by peoples support and deserves every bit of recognition he gets on the world stage.I thought Nick Mason did an amazing job of sharing in his experiences yesterday, and John Thompson was great in his role as compare. it was quite compelling and an interesting insight into what it takes. You could hear a pin drop in parts. It was awesome that he talked about his E-Kit and I feel quite chuffed to go over to his for tech support !!And for me, well, I just do my thing. I’ve been putting in so much time recently to try and push everything to the next level and always stretch myself. Its nice to share it with people. Thank you for your amazing support

A great day amongst great friends
